I get this question a lot from customers that have an installer doing their fence.
Vinyl fence posts dry concrete mix.
Fast setting concrete is ideal for installing fence posts since it doesn t need to be mixed in a bucket or a wheelbarrow.
Mix will set hard in 20 to 40 minutes.
Use sakrete fence post mix to set below grade fence posts.
Used to set mailbox posts fence posts and lamp posts without mixing.
Then set your post in place and use a level to ensure that it s perfectly.
The installer walks up to a post hole tosses in a bag s worth of dry concrete mix adds a little water on top and claims it will set on its own below grade with the moisture from the ground.
This bag only requires you to mix in water before getting started.
Pour dry mix into hole and soak with water.
Sakrete also offers its sakrete fence post concrete mix which is a mixture of sand coarse aggregate and cementitious materials specifically designed for setting fence posts.
Step 7 wait about 4 hours to begin constructing your fence or applying heavy weight to your post.

Fast setting concrete mix also allows you to set posts and poles with no mixing or bracing required.
I had commercial quality vinyl fencing installed without wood posts nor gravel they used concrete pre made mix on the outside of the vinyl post which is hollow inside by a professional as it seems they did not use level so the fence is not necessarily straight goes up at the end by several inches and is leaning at other places by say 1 2.
Designed to set hard in 20 40 minutes.
Dry packing as we install allows us to make final adjustments and wet all footings at once when the fence is completely perfect and ready for our customer.
Fence post mix is designed specifically for anchoring fence posts.
If the concrete was not completely dry the post could move around causing a gap between the semi dried concrete and the post.
To mix or not to mix.
That is the question.
Fast setting concrete mix is a special blend of fast setting cements sand and gravel.
Fill the hole with fast setting concrete up to 3 to 4 inches below ground level.
Do apply caulk to each fence post after only an hour cts rapid set concrete mix will have hardened completely.
You might consider the job done but to further safeguard the fence post against rot.
