Vinyl distorion towards center.
Distortion in corner of image posted in beginning and intermediate imaging.
Sirs i am a newby to astrophotography and to say the least the learning curve has been steep i am still working out a number of issues however i have one issue that i can not figure out how to begin to solve.
As the arm moves towards the center of the lp the stylus angle in relation to the groove changes.
At first the discs were commonly made from shellac.
Amateur inventor develops new tonearm to tackle vinyl distortion there are plenty more gems out there.
In the mid 2000s gradually records made of any material began to be called vinyl records or simply vinyl.
A properly aligned cartridge and arm can minimize the degree of change but there will always be some.
They are tables where the arm does not pivot but slide across the face of the lp on a set of rails.
The recorded wavelengths for high frequencies at the inner grooves approach the grain size of the vinyl substrate particularly if the disc is made with cheap recycled vinyl so that also creates distortion problems because the vinyl doesn t actually store the required waveforms properly.
This is done differently for every tonearm out if you use a blank disc to check the arm should have a slightoutward bias toward the edge not the center of the record.
Because the groove adds some pulling bias to the equation.
Distortion on the inner tracks also comes from the simple fact that there is significantly less velocity under the stylus on as the tone arm tracks towards the center.
The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc.
Mastering engineers will attempt to mitigate end of side distortion by pressing quieter songs with moderate bass and lower hf energy towards the center of each side.
Alternatively they will restrict the playing time or spread an album over two discs to avoid inner grooves.
The stars in the lower left corner of my images show small spikes on them which appear to be oriented on the.
Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common hence the name vinyl.
This is where linear tracking tables came in.
