Insert a flat pry bar under the shingle cap and lift up on both the shingle and the nail head to loosen the nail then pry out the nail. Worn or deteriorated roof covering materials occasionally loosen from their fasteners and lift away from the roof which creates an uneven appearance. Remove the shingle cap.
